J.K. Rowling as Dumbledore
J.K. Rowling may not have played the beloved and prophetic Dumbledore in the Harry Potter flicks—but she did create him, so his thoughts are her thoughts—so we say it counts.
Cassidy Stay, 15, was the sole survivor of a mass shooting that took the lives of her parents and three young siblings. She was able to save the lives of her grandparents by playing dead until she was able to call 911 and tell police they were the next targets of the shooter.
When it was time to memorialize her family, the HP super-fan/young heroine quoted her own hero—Albus Dumbledore.
When Ms. Rowling heard this, she hand wrote a letter to Cassidy—as Dumbledore—and gave her a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts and a signed book.
