She’s embracing her new reality. 90 Day Fiancé alum Ashley Smith (née Martson) shares her thoughts about Jay Smith’s (real name: Conroy St. Christopher Smith) interview in an exclusive statement with In Touch. The TLC alum claims that her former flame’s past “transgressions” are the reason they are no longer in a relationship, saying it’s “plain and simple: Jay cheated.” Martson responds to the comments Smith made during his exclusive tell-all with In Touch, and the TV personality explains why she thinks he is speaking out now. Breaking His Silence

Smith, 22, recently spoke to In Touch exclusively about his stint on the hit reality show, and he openly discussed his cheating scandal, the Tinder incident and how he “regretted” ever appearing on the series.

Reflecting on the Past

The reality star addressed how his “life would be different right now” if he and Martson never accepted the gig. During the tell-all, Smith said he was finally speaking out because he was no longer on probation.

However, Martson, 33, tells In Touch she still has her doubts about Smith’s intentions, despite his explanation for coming forward at this time.

Speaking Out

“For the same reasons Jay is talking to you now is the same reason he got caught cheating while filming a reality show about his relationship, he is young and thinks he’s able to manipulate everyone,” she claims.

Relationship Woes

“He used Tinder and he got caught on camera,” the mother of two adds. “He believed he was going to get away with the cheating in that situation, just like he’s convinced that you all will believe him now.”

Spilling the Tea

Her response comes shortly after Smith claimed the Tinder incident “was staged.” Martson’s former flame also said that some of the awkward scenes were manufactured because “without drama you don’t have a show.”

Smith claimed that although there was some fabricated drama, their relationship was actually being put to the test behind closed doors.

It ultimately resulted in Martson filing for divorce from Smith a second time in April 2019.

The blonde beauty now tells In Touch she doesn’t believe her ex is “an evil person,” but she’s not pleased with the way he’s handled certain situations over the course of their relationship.

“I think he’s young, and has never had anyone hold him accountable or give him direction. I loved Jay for god knows why and became more of his stability and parent than his wife and partner,” Martson claims.

“Jay isn’t capable of being an adult and carrying on like an adult at this point. I’m not mad about this attempt to manipulate at this point. I’m tired of talking about a show that stopped filming and a relationship that ended months ago,” she continues.

It’s a Process

The reality star also confirms their divorce is not finalized yet. “He dated the papers wrong,” Martson claims. “He dated them 2029, and it was overlooked so we’re back at square one.”

Martson and Smith were first introduced to viewers on season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé, and the dynamic duo documented the 90 days leading up to their nuptials on May 16, 2018.

Moving Forward

The Jamaica native previously told In Touch what he’s looking for in a woman now that he’s single, and he said “just don’t be crazy like Ashley.” So, what’s her response?
