’90 Day Fiance’ Stars With Criminal Records and Pasts: Geoffrey Paschel, Jorge Nava and More

Leida Margaretha

The season 6 star made headlines in October 2023 when she was arrested in Wisconsin after being suspected of stealing thousands of dollars from her workplace. 

The former reality TV alum —  who made her debut appearance on the series in 2018 with husband Eric Rosenbrook – is currently facing charges of theft from “a business setting, fraudulent data alteration, forgery and wire fraud against a financial institution.” 

​​As the investigation develops and additional victims are determined, Margaretha could face more charges. 

Christian Allgood

In Touch exclusively confirmed that 90 Day Fiancé star Christian Allgood has a history of criminal activity with several misdemeanors. He was convicted of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia in September 2012, In Touch confirmed via legal documents. Additionally in 2012, he was convicted of riding public transit without paying the proper fare, and has received three tickets in regard to owning an unregistered vehicle.

Christian was previously convicted of a DWI in October 2019 after being pulled over by police and refusing a breathalyzer test. He was charged with three gross misdemeanors, including a third degree DWI – the result of chemical test refusal – a fourth degree DWI and careless driving. Christian was sentenced to 180 days at the Hennepin County Workhouse, while remaining under supervision. He was fined $378 and had to complete community service. Once completed, he was taken off probation, according to multiple reports.

Geoffrey Paschel

As part of his story line on season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Paschel hid his previous arrest on drug possession charges, for which he served nearly two years in prison, from love interest Varya Malina. She was upset at first, but she eventually was able to accept Paschel’s past as his past.

Prior to the season 4 premiere, Paschel made headlines after he appeared in court for an ongoing criminal case for alleged aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, interference with an emergency call and vandalism charges. The charges stemmed from a domestic violence incident that allegedly took place in June 2019 with an ex-fiancée.

On October 7, Paschel was found guilty of all charges — aggravated kidnapping, domestic violence and interference with an emergency call — after a criminal trial in Tennessee. A judge revoked his bail and he was immediately taken into custody.

On February 3, 2022, Paschel was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Malina reacted to the news via Instagram. “To be honest, we didn’t expect much from this sentencing. 18 years?” she asked. “Alright, we passed the bottom, that means there’s only one way up! The grounds for the appeal became even stronger.”

In September 2023, In Touch confirmed that Paschel’s appeal was denied.

“Upon consideration thereof, this Court is of the opinion that there is no error in the judgments of the trial court,” a judgment filed on September 14, and obtained by In Touch detailed. “It is, therefore, ordered and adjudged by this Court that the judgments of the trial court are affirmed, and the case is remanded to the Criminal Court for Knox County for execution of the judgments of that court and for collection of the costs accrued.”

Mary Wallace

Wallace found herself caught in a love triangle with Paschel and Malina on season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. After being in the public eye, her criminal past was revealed which included a 2013 arrest on domestic assault charges. Ultimately, her charges were dismissed by a Blount County Tennessee prosecutor.

Paul Staehle

Staehle hid his criminal record from his now-wife, Karine, during season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. In 2007, Staehle was accused of committing second-degree arson and “Burning Personal Property To Defraud Insurer.” He was found guilty in 2014 and served a brief prison sentence. His supervision ended in April 2020.

“One of the relationships I was in ended so badly, it ended up getting me in some serious trouble and I haven’t explained it all to Karine yet,” Staehle admitted during a previous episode. Eventually, he came clean and Karine accepted his past.

Since welcoming their two children, sons Pierre and Ethan, Paul and Karine have been involved in a custody battle. Their children were placed in the custody of a foster family in the same home ahead of their July 11, 2022, court hearing. “The boys are thriving very much and changed tremendously,” an insider told In Touch in January 2023. “They are extremely loved, cared about and embraced by a whole family.”

By February 2023, Paul shared that he and Karine were ordered to complete a CPS course, but it was compounded by their restraining order fight. Come April, a source exclusively told In Touch that Pierre and Ethan are “doing well” amid the custody battle.

“I am sure Pierre is very confused about why this is,” the insider explained. “Just sad for sure, but the boys are very loved and cared for.”

May 2023 brought news that the couple were committed to getting their sons back, but Paul’s cousins filed a motion on May 22, 2023, to obtain permanent custody. This motion, which was obtained by In Touch, was supported by an affidavit submitted by a worker for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, and a copy was been sent to Paul, Karine and their legal representatives.

“My cousin has filed a motion to attempt to keep custody and to remove all Karine and my parental and custodial rights permanently,” Paul wrote via his Instagram Stories two days later. He claimed that the motion requested that Karine’s visitations be ended, and that their sons last names be changed.

“She is adamant that they have zero future contact with myself, Karine or any of [Karine’s] family,” Paul continued, ​claiming that his cousin said Karine’s native Brazil “is a poor country where they abuse children.”

Paul claimed that his cousin also instructed Pierre and Ethan to refer to her as “mom” and Karine as her first name.

Darcey and Stacey Silva

Darcey Silva made her franchise debut on season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days with her now-ex Jesse Meester. But after their season aired, reports claimed Darcey was arrested after a domestic incident with her twin sister, Stacey Silva, in their Connecticut home.

During an appearance on the 90 Day Fiancé Live aftershow, Stacey explained the details behind the incident, which took place in February 2018, and said a “catfight” broke out between them over Stacey’s opinion on Darcey’s relationship with Meester.

We did argue, it was late at night — I’m not going to go into too much detail, but we learned our lesson,” Stacey said in October 2018. “We got citated, we never got handcuffed, we never got sent to jail, we just had to go to court and the case got dismissed and we’re fine.”

Josh Batterson

After Batterson made his debut on season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé with his now-wife, Aika, his criminal record surfaced. In 2009, Batterson was charged with “disorderly conduct – disturbance and was sentenced to complete an ‘Alcohol Education/Treatment Program.’ The case was dismissed in January 2010.

In March 2010, he was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct. The charges were later dropped after the alleged victim decided not to cooperate with prosecutors.

Tim Clarkson

Tim Clarkson was once arrested for a DUI in the state of Iowa, In Touch exclusively confirmed in June. The arrest took place in January 2015, and he entered a guilty plea in April of that year exchange for a fine as well as complete a 48-hour weekend Drunk Driving School certificate program at Kirkwood Community College.

Ronald Smith

Smith previously came clean about his criminal past due to his struggle with a gambling addiction on season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. His wife, Tiffany Franco, revealed his record included a speeding ticket, possession of a drug, an armed robbery charge and a charge for stolen money. But even though he had several run-ins with the law, none of them ended up in a conviction.

“When he looked further into the details on the record, seeing that he’s never been convicted of any charge, it’s all been withdrawn,” Tiffany said during the season 1 tell-all. “So technically speaking, his record is clear.”

Danielle Jbali

After making her franchise debut on season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé, Danielle Jbali‘s criminal history resurfaced. Her past includes charges for theft of money, theft of credit and forgery.

“Yes, I used someone’s credit card and it was a mistake,” Danielle admitted via Facebook in 2017. “Yes, in the beginning, I was charged with [four] or [five] felonies… This happened in 2005 and I regret it and I paid my restitution, court costs, and served probation.”

Jon Walters

Jon made his debut on season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, and he came clean to his now-wife, Rachel, about his past.

He explained all of the charges on his criminal record are assault charges. When he was young, he claimed he had gotten into about 50-60 physical fights because his mentality was if someone got violent with him, then he would just get violent back. But out of all of those fights, five of them led to convictions — and Jon’s most serious conviction happened when he was in college and he injured someone.

“I was at uni and I’d been out with some friends. Stuff escalated and I ended up punching a group of guys in the face,” Jon told Rachel during a scene that aired in 201. “Why? It’s a group of guys. They get a few drinks inside of them, they think it’s acceptable to say disrespectful things to women and they think they’re untouchable because there’s a big group of ‘em. I got really mad and they tried grabbing me, and by the end of it, they all got punched. They arrested me, and I was convicted of bodily harm without intent — which basically means, he did sustain an injury.”

Jon said he hit his victim so hard that he suffered an eye injury. He pleaded guilty and was able to avoid jail time.

Tyler Nafziger

Tyler has participated on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise in his daughter Nicole Nafziger‘s story line with fiancé Azan Tefou (a.k.a. Hassan M’Raouni.) Following his reality TV appearances, Tyler had a string of run-ins with the law.

In October 2019, he was arrested for battery and possession of drug paraphernalia in Manatee County, Florida. He pleaded not guilty and is due in court on August 25, 2020, for pretrial.

In January 2020, Nafziger was arrested and charged with one third-degree felony drug possession of a controlled substance without a prescription charge and one first degree misdemeanor narcotic equipment possession and or use charge. He pleaded not guilty and is due in court on October 27, 2020.

In March 2020, he was also arrested for petit theft in Manatee County. He appeared in court for his arraignment on July 11, where he pleaded not guilty and demanded a jury trial. A followup court date has not been set.

In May 2020, Tyler was arrested again in Florida on shoplifting charges. He was charged with larceny: petit theft which is a second-degree misdemeanor. His bond was set at $120 and he was released one day later. He pleaded not guilty and demanded a jury trial. Pretrials are set to begin on August 4, 2020.

Larissa Dos Santos Lima

The Brazillian beauty had three run-ins with the law after she moved to America to be with her now ex, Colt Johnson.

In June 2018, Dos Santos Lima was arrested on domestic battery charges shortly before her wedding with Johnson. Those charges were later dismissed.

In November 2018, Dos Santos Lima was arrested for a second time on domestic battery charges after an alleged altercation with Johnson. The charges were later dismissed.

In January 2019, Dos Santos Lima was arrested for a third time after an alleged incident with Johnson. She was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence. In May 2019, she was able to strike a deal that would help her avoid jail time in exchange for domestic violence classes and community service.

That December, Larissa appeared in court and her charges were lessened to disorderly conduct.

Scottie Deem

Angela Deem‘s daughter Scottie was charged with child molestation and rape back in September 2018. She was originally charged with statutory rape, one count of aggravated child molestation and 11 counts of child molestation from an alleged incident that took place in July 2017. She was released early from prison on May 6 after serving 15 months, In Touch confirmed.

Jorge Nava

In February 2018, Nava was arrested for felony possession of almost 300 pounds of marijuana. He plead guilty in July 2018 and began his two-and-a-half-year sentence in September 2018. Though he was projected to be eligible for release no earlier than August 2020, he served only one year and eight months and was released in May 2020.

Jason Hitch

In January 2017, Hitch was arrested for domestic battery after an alleged altercation with now ex-wife Cassia Tavares. The charges were dropped the following day. The couple later divorced in October 2018.

Charles ‘Chuck’ Potthast

Charles “Chuck” Potthast is best known on the show as Elizabeth “Libby” Potthast‘s father. He brings the drama on the show because of his strained relationship with Libby’s husband, Andrei Castravet. During season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, Chuck accused Andrei of having a shady criminal past, but it turns out Chuck has a shady criminal past of his own.

He was arrested in March 2009 for unpaid child support, In Touch can confirm. He faced a contempt of court charge and was ordered to pay a lump sum of $17,564. He was released on bond shortly after.

Jennifer ‘Jenn’ Davis

Libby’s sister Jennifer “Jenn” Davis (née Potthast) agreed with Chuck that Andrei must have been hiding something about his past from them. But she also had a secret she hasn’t shared on the show.

In 2005, she was arrested for driving a vehicle with registration that was expired for more than six months, In Touch can confirm. She pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine. The case is closed.

Becky Lichtwerch

Libby’s other sister Rebekah “Becky” Lichtwerch (née Potthast) was also one of Andrei’s biggest haters. But like the rest of her family members, Becky had a skeleton in her closet, too.

In 2008, she was charged with driving at an unlawful speed on the interstate, In Touch can confirm. She pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine. The case is closed.

Charles ‘Charlie’ Potthast Jr.

Charles “Charlie” Potthast Jr. was right by his father’s side throwing accusations while they were in Moldova to attend Andrei and Libby’s second wedding. The tension came to a boiling point when Charlie almost came to blows with his brohther-in-law during a family dinner.

Turns out, Charlie is the Potthast family member who has the lengthiest criminal record. In May 2005, Charlie was arrested on a DUI charge, In Touch can confirm. He pleaded not guilty at a court hearing in August of that year, and the charge was reduced to reckless driving in April 2006. He was sentenced to one-year probation and ordered to attend DUI school. In February 2007, he completed his terms of probation and the case was closed.

In December 2006, he was arrested for one count of third-degree felony of possession of cocaine, two counts of first-degree misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia. He initially pleaded not guilty, but withdrew it in July 2007 and entered a best interest plea. He was sentenced to probation and the case was closed in 2008.

Ben Rathbun

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. star Ben Rathbun was arrested for violating probation stemming from a previous drunk driving charge in Michigan on March 15, In Touch confirmed.

He was taken into custody at Oakland County Jail after a bench warrant was placed for his arrest. He was booked at 12:21 a.m. and his bail was set at $10,000, which he has not yet posted. He remains in custody.

Olivia Hopkins

Molly Hopkins’ daughter Olivia Hopkins was found guilty of violating her probation and was sentenced to serve 45 days in jail during an April 2023 court date, In Touch confirmed.

After Olivia serves her time in jail, she will be required to participate in increased drug testing and serve eight hours of community service per week upon her release.

The sentencing comes after In Touch confirmed that the reality star was arrested and booked on April 4, 2023, for violating the terms of her October 2020 arrest. Her first arrest was in relation to a domestic violence incident with her mother.

According to legal documents viewed by In Touch, Olivia failed to enter a family violence treatment program, she didn’t take two mandatory drug tests in March and she failed the drug test she did take. At the time of her arrest, Olivia also tested positive for fentanyl by consumption.

Mike Eloshway

The season 1 star was indicted on child pornography charges in the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division in June 2023. 

According to court records obtained by In Touch, Eloshway “did knowingly receive and distribute … depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct” between February 2022 and March 2023. In addition, the former reality star possessed a “black HP desktop computer that contained child pornography” and at least one image involved a prepubescent minor under the age of 12.
