He’s cutting ties with his former flame in more ways than one. 90 Day Fiancé star Jonathan Rivera shared a big update on March 12, revealing that he withdrew the paperwork for Fernanda Flores’ green card. The TLC alum announced the news on Instagram and also gave some insight on why he ultimately decided to cancel the I-184 for his ex. Scroll through the gallery for all of the details.
Jonathan, 32, previously confirmed his separation from Fernanda, 20, in January 2019, revealing how they were going in different directions with their lives. Now, Jonathan shared an update with fans post-split.

Parting Ways
The reality star shared a photo of himself jumping for joy on March 12. “That feeling you get when cancel the I-184 (affidavit of support) #ticketcanceled and you finish your first complete design renovation,” he wrote.

Cutting Ties
After finding out about his big decision, several fans started sharing their opinions in the comment section. “Oh snap,” one wrote. “You look thrilled lol and that house is gorgeous,” another chimed in.

One person said “it’s about time,” and Jonathan shared his thoughts while responding. “Couldn’t do anything until now. The laws are different in every state,” he wrote. “It’s not because I wasn’t trying.”

“You shouldn’t cancel it if you agreed to it to bring her here. Make grown up choices, deal with grown up consequences,” one of Jonathan’s followers wrote.

Another fired back at that particular comment and explained how Jonathan brought Fernanda here “because he loved her and wanted to create a life WITH her, not finance her dreams and lifestyle FOR her.”

It looks like Jonathan agreed as he wrote, “thank you!” The TLC alum also noted “if it were two Americans, you wouldn’t be responsible for 10 years post-divorce.”

Calling It Quits
Back in January, Jonathan confirmed his separation with his ex. “I haven’t spoken to Fernanda since December 22,” he told In Touch while discussing their relationship status.

“My feelings for Fernanda were real and Fernanda’s feelings for me were real,” he clarified. “Fernanda’s not a gold digger. Fernanda didn’t come here for a green card.”

Accepting It’s Over
Jonathan said he gave the relationship everything he had. “I think that was very apparent in the show,” he revealed. “None of that was edited, that was my heartfelt feelings. You know you can only give so much until you start giving yourself away.”

Opening Up
During that time, Fernanda was on a social media hiatus and later explained why she took time away from Instagram. “300k followers unbelievable! A month ago I left social media 100% to focus [on] my mental and physical health,” she wrote.

Fernanda added, “I was going through something that I never [thought] will happen to me being so young.” The TLC alum continued by thanking fans for their ongoing support.

“I understand that those experiences are the ones that make us grow, learn and move on,” she concluded. “I’m working on getting myself back, because you guys deserve to know the best version of me.”

Most recently, Fernanda has been building a new life in Chicago, focusing on her fitness, well-being and career. Fernanda declined In Touch’s request for comment in regards to the green card paperwork.
