’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Tasha Lawyers Up Amid Legal Battle Against Eric’s Wife, Leida

“Well, I had no idea that she was even on the show when she and her boyfriend were going to move in with me,” Jan exclusively told In Touch. And the way she was treated on the show and after the show was airing, the way she was treated by Eric and Leida just appalled me.”

“Then when the police got involved, I was like, ‘This is getting out of hand.’ Because I thought it was just going to go away and it never did,” Jan went on to explain. “And then when she got served the papers, that’s when I was like, OK, this needs to end.’ I mean, this isn’t right.”

“I started getting involved because she knew nothing about the law, she didn’t have the money for an attorney to guide her along, nothing,” Jan said.

Jan explained that after the restraining order was granted, Tasha only had 20 days to file a petition to vacate it. That’s why she started the GoFundMe for Tasha so that she could raise money as soon as possible in order to obtain a lawyer.

Jan also explained why Tasha’s mom has been unable to step in and help her daughter during her time of need. Jan said that Tasha’s mother lives far away and works a night shift at her job, on top of caring for Tasha’s younger sister Jennica and running a farmette.

“It’s difficult for her to get down here,” Jan said. “They talk, Tasha and her mom talk every day, and her older sister — they talk every day. They have a very very good, strong relationship.”

“I’m just here to fill in, you know,” Jan explained. “Her mom was here for the hearing, her mom comes down for important things she needs to be here for. I’m just stepping in going, ‘Hey, I’m a mom. I get this, and I’m gonna help her any way I can possibly help her.'”

Jan explained that the reason why she felt so compelled to help Tasha is because the restraining order that Leida obtained will stay on her permanent record.

“Whenever somebody gets a job or an apartment, they run background checks. And this stays on her record for life,” Jan said. “Even if Leida didn’t get the restraining order, it would still stay on her record for life that one was filed against her. And when they do background checks, that will pop up and a restraining order, especially here, it indicates that somebody perceives you as a dangerous person, that you caused trouble and people don’t want that in apartment buildings or a [place of business.] It really does affect her for the rest of her life.”

Jan also said that Eric, 40, was the one who filled out and filed the restraining order against Tasha on Leida’s behalf.

“I don’t think either one of them knew the gravity of the situation. I don’t think either of them knew this was going to stay on her record for life,” Jan said.

In an exclusive statement to In Touch, Eric said “Well, first I’ll say that Jan is blowing a lot of this out of proportion. But yes, I did fill it out. Only because she didn’t know what to do, not because I agreed with the choice to file it.”

He also added that Leida did not request a 4-year restraining order, but that was just what the judge had ruled.

When asked how Tasha is holding up amid this legal drama, Jan said, “It really has deeply affected her, deeply. Especially the loss of her father.”

Jan said now, Tasha has met with her lawyer and they are awaiting a court date. In the meantime, Tasha is continuing to save up money to pay for the rest of the legal costs, which could run from $3,000 to $5,000. She was able to raise $1,200 from the GoFundMe.

Jan explained that Tasha is hoping she will be able to fight to have the restraining order vacated or removed completely from her record.
