11 ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Moments That Made You Say “WTF Are They Doing?!”

Suffice to say, it takes a, uh, special (read: weird) kind of person to decide they want to live most of their lives in the wilds of Alaska. But when it comes to the Alaskan Bush People, weird is pretty much their specialty. After all, have you seen patriarch Billy Brown‘s long, dangling mustache tails? Or the way Bear Brown leads his life in the most extreme ways possible? Or the fact that Rain Brown‘s real name is actually Merry Christmas? Yeah, the members of the Brown family aren’t exactly your average next door neighbors — they’re kind of a breed of their own.

Living off the grid in the wilderness (or pretending to, considering some fans think they never even lived in Alaska) is already far enough from normal. But when you actually sit down to watch the Discovery Channel show, you realize that the Browns actually go way beyond that when it comes to bizarre behaviors. Whether it’s for fun, for convenience, or simply their way of lives, they’ve got their own way of doing things. And it involves a lot of strange habits when it comes to dealing with fish. Check out the gallery below to see all the times the Alaskan Bush People made us say, “WTF are they doing?”
