All the Times Miranda Lambert Stopped Her Concerts to Scold Fans For Selfies, Throwing Beach Balls

Miranda went viral on TikTok in July 2023 for pausing a show to scold fans for taking a selfie. “These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It’s pissing me off a little bit,” she said. The incident caused some fans to walk out of the concert in anger, and others defended the selfie-takers on social media. One of the concertgoers that Miranda called out, Adela Calin, told NBC News she was “appalled” by the singer pausing the concert.

No Beach Balls

The selfie incident caused another Miranda concert moment to go viral. In another TikTok video, the “Drunk” singer can be seen poking a hole in a beach ball on stage as the crowd cheers. “I love y’all but we’re not at the damn beach. We’re singing country music tonight!” she said.

No Throwing Things

Another video from 2020 shows Miranda pausing mid-song to scold fans for throwing glow sticks. “Nope, that’s not gonna work for me. … I love a good glow stick but we’re not gonna throw s–t tonight.” Given the influx of performers being hit by objects onstage recently, we can understand this rule.

No Turning Your Back

Amid the backlash Miranda received for the selfie incident, a fan shared a TikTok video of her scolding someone at another concert for having their back turned during a song. “You have your back turned for this song and I don’t like that,” she said. “It’s just kinda rude. You’re cute and all but I don’t like it. Taking selfies during ‘The House That Built Me,’ come on.”

No Fighting

OK, perhaps this rule is more reasonable than others. Miranda once again scolded fans during her set at the Under the Big Sky music festival on July 13, 2024. At first, she seemed to be reprimanding them for chatting with each other and not paying attention to her while she sang.

“I can see that your head is not turned the right way, which is this way,” she said, as seen in footage on TikTok. “So, if you came to visit, you can do it somewhere else. If you came to sing and hear some country music and drink some beer and raise some hell, we’re doing that tonight. Are we clear?”

Then, Miranda hinted that there was an argument in the audience when she added, “Are we done with our drama yet? Fighting is not OK. And it’s always the girls. We get crazy! Cheers, everybody. I’m gonna wait it out. This looks like a good time for a drink, y’all.”
