Poor little guy! It looks like Chelsea Houska and Cole DeBoer‘s son is having some health troubles. In a sneak peek for a new episode of Teen Mom 2, the parents talked about what their middle child, Watson, was going through — and it sounds like he’s got it rough. We’ll learn more in a new episode of Teen Mom. To find out what we know so far, check out what Chelsea and Cole had to say in the gallery.
IRL, Chelsea gave birth to Layne in late August, but we only just saw her going in labor during the February 11 episode. Becoming a big brother should’ve been Watson’s only concern, but he had his own hospital visit to contend with.

The little boy apparently had some health issues.
Though we didn’t hear about them while the parents were dealing with it in real time, they’re starting to open up about the subject on the show. We’ll get the full details on Monday, February 18, but until then, we only have the preview to go off of.

In the clip, the parents seem stressed.
In addition to having a new baby to take care of, upping their number of kids to three instead of two, they’ve now got surgery worries on their minds. “Are you ready for his surgery tomorrow?” Chelsea asked her husband.

Cole’s not sure he’s ready for it.
Though they don’t explain what the surgery is for in the preview, Cole seems particularly worried about his young son having to undergo a serious procedure. “I don’t like surgery!” he complains to his wife.

Watson was likely only about 20 months old.
The adorable little guy celebrated his 2nd birthday in January 2019, but in the weeks after Layne’s birth, he was still pretty young. He could’ve been dealing with a whole host of scary complications that needed to be addressed.

Luckily, he’s got his mom there to support him.
He may be too little to totally understand what’s going on, but mom Chelsea seemingly carries him into the hospital herself for his procedure. What his surgery is for may still be a mystery, but the fact that he had such a serious health issue seems to explain some of the family’s other behaviors.

Recently, Chelsea opened up about her postpartum anxiety.
She talked about having “pretty severe postpartum anxiety” after having children, but admitted that it was the worst after Watson’s birth. “For me, leaving them to go out just causes a lot of stress and anxiety,” she admitted on Instagram.

It’s even impacted her relationship with Cole.
Not being able to leave her children after their births meant she wasn’t able to spend important one-on-one time with her husband. But it’s something that she’s working on. “We are trying to make it a point to get out on dates more!” she admitted. “We are very grateful to have help from family members when we need it!”

Watson’s health issues could explain her spike in postpartum anxiety.
It makes sense that she would be worried about leaving her kids without her, even if they were with a family member, if her young son had serious health issues. And considering the fact that he needed surgery before his 2nd birthday, it seems like they were nothing to scoff at.

He’s always seemed like a happy, healthy little boy.
But even for reality stars, you never know what’s going on behind closed doors unless they decide to share. Cole and Chelsea clearly kept Watson’s health struggles under wrap on their social media accounts.

Hopefully everything turns out fine.
And seeing how silly Watson is these days, we’re sure he pulled through okay. And having big sis Aubree around to take care of him must help. Though Chelsea had to deal with a crabbiness problem with Aubree after Watson was born, it never seemed to stem from a lack of love for her little brother.

The little guy has the whole family backing him up.
That means Papa Randy, too. The Teen Mom star’s dad has the sweetest relationship with his grandson, and seeing how big the little boy smiles when he gets to Facetime with his grandpa tells us everything we need to know about the love they share.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that Randy and Watson are basically twins.
When Chelsea first started showing off pictures of her son, fans couldn’t help but comment on the resemblance between the family members. “When I look at Watson in this [picture] I see a lil Randy! So adorable!”

We’re sure the little tot will be back to making mischief soon.
He’s a-okay IRL, so it can’t be long in the Teen Mom timeline before he’s recovering nicely from his surgery, whatever the procedure ends up being. But in the meantime, we’re still sending some extra love Chelsea’s way.

It was clearly a scary time for the mom.
And reliving those moments won’t be easy for her, no matter how well everything turned out down the line.
