He’s come so far! Chris Pratt may be known these days for his portrayal of Peter Quill — a.k.a. Star-Lord — in the hit Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movies, but we remember him from his days on Everwood and Parks and Recreation. In honor of his 40th birthday, we wanted to take a look back and see just how much this Hollywood heartthrob has changed throughout his career. Check out the gallery below to see all the photos!
Chris was born in Virginia, Minnesota. Did you know he was “discovered” while he was working for a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant in Hawaii when he was just 19? Here he is just a few years later in 2002.

It was not long after that film that Chris would take on a role in Take Me Home Tonight. That’s where he met Anna Faris, who played his love interest in the movie. They dated and ultimately were engaged in late 2008. Anna, 42, wrote in her memoir, “I was once told that I didn’t need a tight group of girlfriends because Chris should be my best friend. But I never bought that. The idea of your mate being your best friend — it’s overhyped.” Hmm.

There’s so much life experience. I hope you get to live it all and experience a whole lot of people.”

In 2012, Chris and Anna became parents. He’s pictured here in December 2012, just months after welcoming his son — Jack — in August 2012. Apparently, one of the reasons they eventually broke up was because they disagreed about the number of kids they wanted. She revealed on her podcast, “We both love kids, Chris and I have both dreamed about having a big family. But I didn’t love pregnancy … I was just bored. I was uncomfortable at times, and Jack came early. He came two months early, so now I’m in a high-risk pregnancy category.”

Anna said on her podcast that same month, “Life is too short for you to be in relationships where you’re not feeling like this isn’t fully right or somebody doesn’t have your back or somebody doesn’t value you in every way.” Yikes. Well, apparently Chris learned a lesson during his marriage, because in 2018 …

… Chris began a relationship with Katherine Schwarzenegger. But there are apparently no more hard feelings when it comes to his previous relationship with Anna, because a source told Life & Style magazine in November 2018, “Anna’s incredibly impressed with how amazing Katherine is with Jack and is relieved that Chris is in a relationship with a kind, loving woman.”

Chris and Katherine got married in a romantic wedding ceremony on June 8, in Montecito, California. They tied the knot at the San Ysidro Ranch after having their rehearsal dinner at fellow Parks and Rec alum Rob Lowe‘s estate in Montecito the day before.
Chris went from Bubba Gump waiter to Andy Dwyer to major Hollywood heavy hitter. He’s been married twice, and who knows? Maybe he and Katherine will be parents before long. Are you excited to see what Chris does next?
