Despite Split Rumors, Jazz Jennings’ Boyfriend Ahmir Says They’re Still ‘in Communication’
It’s less of a “will they, won’t they” situation and more of a “have they, haven’t they?” After fueling split rumors on Instagram, Jazz Jennings‘ (maybe) boyfriend, Ahmir Steward, isn’t confirming the news one way or another. Though he recently seemed to refer to himself as “single” in a photo caption shared April 25, he told Radar Online that he and the TLC star are very much still “in communication.” But does that mean they’re still together? It seems like they may be taking a break, but for the most part, the couple is keeping their status vague.
“I’m pretty sure we’ll see each other again,” Ahmir told Radar in an exclusive shared April 29, admitting that the two of them, who live in separate states, haven’t yet made plans for future visits. “We are in communication,” he continued. “I just talked to her the other day. … I spoke to her this week. … She just pretty much has been telling me she’s there for me.” In the past, the teen has been open about his mental health struggles, and it seems like Jazz has been helping him cope.
Ultimately, it seems like these two still care about each other a lot. However, that Instagram he shared may be more reflective of their relationship status than he wanted to let on. “Although we may be single sometimes, we will be beautiful at all times,” he wrote days before speaking to Radar. “Everything is temporary. Except for the bad b—h vibes that you bring to the table.” In the comments, one of Ahmir’s friends wrote, “If love fails, always resort to being a bad b—h,” to which he responded, “The maddest and the baddest.”
Recently, the teen seems to have become more comfortable opening up online, identifying himself as non-binary in his Instagram bio and revealing that he goes by he, she, or they pronouns. On April 30, he opened up further about risking relationships by opening up about who he is. “This was the day that many of my old friends and family walked away from me,” he wrote with a picture that featured himself, Jazz, and many other teens. “I was calling many things, but the part that stood out to me was when I was told that I was ‘gay by association.’ My response?” he wrote. “‘F–k it.’ … I think this was when my life began.”
