Sister Wives star Meri Brown had fans speculating about her relationship status for months after her split from Kody Brown in January 2023. One year after the pair ended their marriage, she introduced the world to her boyfriend on January 16, 2024.
Does ‘Sister Wives’ Star Meri Brown Have a Boyfriend?
Meri confirmed that she has a boyfriend named Amos, whom she started dating in October 2023. She shared the news in honor of her 53rd birthday.
“Meet Amos, the good looking guy I’ve been dating since October!” Meri shared. “He’s not 6 foot 5, nor is he a pilot, but he loves Christmas almost as much as I do, and we laugh a lot together, both of which are important elements to a relationship.”
Meri also revealed that her dog, Zona, loves Amos and explained why she hadn’t introduced him to fans sooner. “I’ve been keeping this kind of close to me as we’ve been enjoying the last few months of dating and getting to know each other,” she wrote. “As I’ve considered when and how I wanted to share this fun news and share him with the world (jk, not really sharing, I’m keeping him to myself), I knew I wanted to celebrate my birthday in a special way and let you celebrate with me!”
Before the reveal, rumors first ignited that Meri had a new romantic connection in her life after she took to Instagram on August 21, 2023, to pose with a mystery man.
“This guy is kind, genuine, and authentic, a true friend,” she captioned the selfie, as she smiled alongside a man identified online as JD Crawford. “If you don’t have one of these humans in your life, one that has your back, one that no matter what time passes, it’s like no time passed at all, you should get yourself one!”
Underneath the photo, fans ignited with buzz regarding Meri possibly having a new boyfriend.
“Please tell me you’re more than just friends. He’s hot! You deserve such happiness in your life,” one user wrote. Meanwhile, another added, “That’s a beautiful smile on her face. I have never seen her look so happy before. If you are just friends. You gotta snag this one Meri.”
While Meri left no other hints, her best friend, Jenn Sullivan, confirmed there is an ongoing search for a potential suitor. After Meri and Jenn took to Instagram for their weekly “Fridays With Friends” Instagram Live segment on November 3, 2023, a fan commented under the reposted video, writing, “These two are definitely dating.”
Jenn confirmed their platonic relationship and replied, “I’m dating my husband but that’s it. He’s trying to set Meri up then we shall double date.”
At the end of November 2023, Meri poked fun at all the buzz surrounding her love life. After celebrating Thanksgiving with friends, she posted a cute selfie with a young boy who looked to be about 9 years old. “What a wonderful and beautiful Thanksgiving week with friends!” Meri wrote. “Thank you for inviting me to spend a few amazing days with your family and friends and for introducing me to the new man in my life! I think I’ll keep him!”
When 2024 rolled around, Meri seemingly revealed that she was still on the market for a man. The reality star announced that she had gotten a dog and hinted that the rescue pup was the only “love” in her life at the time.
“They say love comes when you least expect it!” Meri shared. “Ask anyone I know, I wasn’t going to get a dog. I travel too much. They’re a lot of responsibility. I had all the reasons to not get one.” However, she said that going to a shelter and playing with some pups changed her mind. “I knew she was special,” Meri added. “I couldn’t get her off my mind or out of my heart, so I went back on Sunday and brought her home with me!”
Ahead of her 53rd birthday in January 2024, Meri shared her wish list for her big day and the number one item was a “birthday dinner date with a great guy.” At the time, fans didn’t know that Amos was already in the picture!
When Did Sister Wives’ Meri Brown and Kody Brown Split?
The Lizzie’s Heritage Inn owner first alluded that her marriage to the polygamous patriarch was over during Sister Wives: One-on-One special in December 2022. Fans watched as Meri viewed a clip where Kody stated that he didn’t consider himself married to the mom of one.
“Like, he just made the decision. I’ve never heard him say that to me,” she told host Sukanya Krishnan. When asked where she stood with Kody, the TLC personality replied, “Well, he’s already made the decision. You just saw him say that.”
A month later, Meri and Kody — who wed in April 1990 — announced their split in a joint statement.
“In light of a recent unapproved press release, we feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way and in our own timing,” the statement shared via Instagram on January 10, 2023, began. “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship.”
The former couple added that they are “committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all the members of our family.”
“We are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace and love,” they concluded.
While the father of 18 left his message without a caption, Meri explained in her own post that there was “so much more to be told about this story” and she “wasn’t holding any grudges.”
Would Meri Brown Get Married Again?
Despite how things ended with Kody, Meri was not closed off to the idea of getting married again after the split.
“I have hope that I will find somebody to share my life with, yeah,” she admitted in December 2023. “Yeah, I do [want to get married again]! I hope to.”
Meri also said that Matthew McConaughey was her celebrity crush and revealed that she wants to find somebody who loves and accepts the person that I am and cherishes me and knows my heart and likes it.”
