No, Jinger Isn’t a “Car Flipper” — The Many Fake Careers of the Duggars

Jinger: "Car Flipper"

In season 2 of Counting On, Jinger is shown entering the car flipping business. The whole scene felt staged, and although the show tried to show Jinger as being career-focused and independent, she was still forced to bring her brother John-David along. In the end, when Jinger successfully sold her first car flip, showing yet-another Duggar success story, the man who "bought" the car admitted on Facebook that he was hired by production. So much for her "career."

Jinger: "Photographer"

Here's another job Jinger supposedly had before getting married to Jeremy Vuolo. On the show, she was shown taking engagement photos for both Jill and Jessa. But viewers pointed out that it was mostly Jessa making the orders, not Jinger. She also didn't appear to offer her services to anyone except members of her family, which sorry, doesn't count as a "real" job.

Jana and Jill: "Midwives"

Throughout Counting On and even parts of 19 Kids and Counting, Jana and Jill are shown learning midwifery alongside a licensed midwife. In one episode, both sisters even help with a home birth, and in another instance, even assist a talk show host who has a sudden birth while taping a show. However, according to Dr. Amy Tuteur, an obstetrician gynecologist, neither sisters are actual midwives because they're unlicensed.

"Jill Duggar Dillard did not become a midwife," she wrote in a popular blog post. "She became a counterfeit midwife. She was awarded an ersatz credential (CPM, certified professional midwife) designed to fool the public into believing that lay people who can’t be bothered (or can’t hack) the education and training needed to become a real midwife are 'midwives' nonetheless. The CPM really means 'counterfeit professional midwife.'" Considering how anti-education the Duggars are, this doesn't surprise us.

Jana: "Concert Pianist"

Because Jana is the oldest unmarried Duggar, she has the most unusual list of "jobs." A few years ago when her parents wished her a happy birthday on Facebook, they called her an accomplished "concert pianist," much to the laughter of fans who knew that wasn't even close to being true.

Joseph: An "Emergency First Responder"

On the show, Joseph is shown being sent to a boot camp for a couple of weeks to be trained in discipline and how to respond to natural disasters. On their blog, the family bragged that graduates of the program go on to become firemen and soldiers, but of course, none of the Duggars are any of those things. In fact, fans believe the program is actually a "re-education camp" designed to teach teenagers to follow orders. Considering its run by the Bill Gothard's Institute in Basic Life Principles, we wouldn't be surprised.

Jana: Journey to the Heart Leader

The female version of the ALERT Academy boot camp, Jana attended Journey to the Heart several times throughout her teenage years and even "worked" part-time there for a short period as a leader. Jana revealed in a podcast that she was "troubled" before attending the camp and that it helped her to start "loving my family." The whole thing sounds iffy, but judging by the bigger picture here, volunteering your time at a Christian camp, while nice, hardly counts as a career.
