EXCLUSIVE: Cory Monteith’s Cousin: Cory’s Ashes Will Be Scattered In Cities He Loved
As In Touch reported, Cory Monteith’s body was cremated following his autopsy, with the only witnesses being his mother, Ann, brother, Shaun, and girlfriend Lea Michele. Now, Cory’s first cousin Richard Monteith exclusively tells In Touch that the 31-year-old actor's ashes will most likely be scattered in the three cities that meant the most to him.
“I think Cory's mom wants to spread some of the ashes in the different places he loved,” Richard says. “I think she wanted to cremate him so they could spread his ashes in LA, Vancouver, and Victoria and keep a little bit for the family.”
Cory grew up between Victoria and Vancouver, both in British Columbia. Vancouver is where he died, in the city’s Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. A candelight vigil, which Richard attended, was held outside the hotel last night.
L.A., of course, was where Cory had relocated to work on the hit FOX show Glee. Previously, In Touch reported that the show is on a short break while producers and writers decide what to do with Cory’s character, Finn.

In his short life, Cory was involved with and supported several charities. Richard recommends that fans who wish to pay tribute to Cory support Project Limelight, which helps gets kids in troubled Vancouver neighborhoods off the streets by giving them acting and singing lessons and opportunities to express themselves.
“It's kind of like a bunch of little Glees,” he says.
