Time flies. It’s been one year since the final season of Game of Thrones premiered. (Yes, you read that correctly)! And, in honor of the hit show’s anniversary, we rounded up transformations of your favorite characters from what they looked like in season 1 vs. season 8. Sansa Stark Then

In the first season, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) was so innocent and wanted to marry a prince. Unfortunately, she did, and that didn’t turn out so well. Joffrey was the one that killed her father, Ned Stark, and forced her to watch.

Sansa Stark Now

Sansa is now in charge and knows how to rule a kingdom. The red-headed beauty continues to lead the North and Winterfell in Jon’s place — with her sister, Arya, by her side.

Tyrion Lannister Then

Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) was put on trial for trying to kill Bran Stark — even though he was innocent. He also met Shae, whom he would later date. At the end of the first season, he was named Hand of the King to his nephew Joffrey.

Tyrion Lannister Now

Tyrion has been working with Daenerys since season 6 and later named him Hand of the Queen. Tyrion was actually the one who suggested that Daenerys and Jon work together. At the end of the episode, Tyrion sees Dany and Jon’s love connection and is a little concerned as to what the future holds.

Jaime Lannister Then

In the first season, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) was hooking up with his twin sister, Cersei. He pushed Bran Stark out of a tower (and he later became paralyzed) because he saw them canoodling. Later on, Robb Stark and his mother, Catelyn, captured Jaime and held him prisoner.

Jaime Lannister Now

Jaime poisoned Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg), who revealed that she was the one responsible for Joffrey’s death. Jon Snow tells the brother-sister duo about the White Walker attacks, and Cersei agrees to join in on the fight against the Night King, but later tells her brother she was lying. In response, Jaime is pissed that she broke her promise, so he leaves her alone to join the battle.

Arya Stark Then

The youngest Stark daughter, Arya (Maisie Williams), ran away from her family and went undercover as a boy for many years. She escaped with Gendry, a bastard son of King Robert, in order to survive.

Arya Stark Now

She’s gone through training and even killed some people — all the Frey men who murdered her mother and brother Robb — but she is finally reunited with her siblings Sansa and Bran back at Winterfell. Arya is also responsible for Littlefinger’s death since the sisters learn that he is trying to cause a rift between them. Sansa and Arya agree to stay united in the upcoming war.

Cersei Lannister Then

Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) was hooking up with her brother and arranged the death of her husband, King Robert. Additionally, she made sure that her son (a.k.a. Jaime’s son too) would sit on the Iron Throne as King Joffrey.

Cersei Lannister Now

Cersei claimed the Iron Throne for herself and is cold as stone. The blonde beauty tells Jaime that she’s pregnant, even though she promised to marry Euron Grejoy after the war ends. After she broke her promise to Jon Snow, Cersei is left all by herself.

Jon Snow Then

Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) was introduced as Ned Stark’s bastard child and joined the Night’s Watch, where he met Samwell Tarly.

Jon Snow Now

Jon took his brother’s place as King of the North. Jon is super frustrated with all the other leaders since he knows how dangerous the White Walker army is. Jon and Dany then team up to fight against the undead army. They also have a hot and heavy hookup, which is awkward since Dany is actually Jon’s aunt. Yikes.

Khal Drogo Then

Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) is forced to marry Daenerys but cannot communicate with his new wife because they don’t speak the same language. After two months, they are happy and in love, but unfortunately, he informs the blonde beauty that he will die soon after he is injured.

Khal Drogo Now

Daenerys and Tyrion mention Drogo when they are discussing Jon Snow. She complained about how heroic men “do stupid things [and] die,” referring to Drogo’s incident as an example. RIP Drogo.

Bran Stark Then

The youngest Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) was unfortunately pushed out a window by Jaime and lost the use of his legs. He was nearly killed and couldn’t remember what happened to him, so he had to rely on servants Osha and Hodor. Later on, he started to have crazy visions. His brother Robb went to war, so Bran became the Lord of Winterfell.

Bran Stark Now

Now, he is the Three-Eyed Raven and can see the past, but he doesn’t have the same persona since all he cares about are his visions. Bran was actually the one that revealed that Dany and Jon are related.

Brienne of Tarth Then

We actually don’t meet Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) until season 2, where Catelyn and Robb Stark make her babysit their prisoner Jaime. She is forced to fight three of the Northern soldiers (who ended up being Stark soldiers) and her skills impress Jaime.

Brienne of Tarth Now

Brienne is still serving Sansa Stark. Oh, and she and Jaime have crazy chemistry, but as of now, nothing has happened between the two.

Daenerys Targaryen Then

In the first season, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) came into power pretty quickly, but wasn’t as confident with herself. She was sold into marriage to a Dothraki named Khal Drogo, then fell in love with him. Afterward, she had a miscarriage and her husband died, but she also hatched three dragon babies.

Now, the Mother of Dragons is working with Jon Snow so they can take down the White Walker army once and for all.

Petyr Baelish Then

Petyr Baelish a.k.a. Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) was always slimy and conniving. He became obsessed and in love with Catelyn Stark. She asks him for help because she wanted to identify the person who tried to have her son Bran Stark killed, and he named Tyrion.

After he tried to pit Arya and Sansa against each other, Littlefinger died. See ya!
