July 2013

“It’s the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, ‘I’m stopping by and can I bring my friend?’ And I was like, ‘Of course.’ I got a call from my agent who called me and said, ‘I met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry,’” George later gushed about the day he met Amal. “The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked and we stayed up all night talking and then.”

October 2013

Their first date – a meet-up at Abbey Road Studios followed by dinner in London – was captured by paparazzi. 

February 2014

After spending the holidays in Mexico, the happy couple jet off to Africa. George later dished that that was when he knew he would marry her. 

“We went on a safari in Kenya. Amal loves giraffes; they’re her favorite animal. She went to this place called Giraffe Manor, where the giraffes stick their heads through the windows and kiss you. I had a picture of her, looking back, smiling at these giraffes and I said, ‘I think I’m going to ask her to marry me,’” he gushed.

April 2014

After less than one year of dating, the Ocean’s 11 actor popped the question. 

“It was completely unexpected, so finally I just said ‘Listen, I’m 52 [at the time] and I’ve been on my knee now for about 28 minutes, so I gotta get an answer out of this or I’m gonna throw a hip out!” he later joked. 

September 2014

George and Amal tied the knot at the Aman Canal Grande resort in Venice, Italy, in front of their closest friends and family. 

June 2017

Less than three years after tying the knot, Amal gave birth to the couple’s twins. Son Alexander and daughter Ella were born on June 6, 2017, in London. 

“This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander George into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine,” a statement from the couple read. “George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”

May 2018

The happy couple are picture perfect as they attend Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle, later revealing that they were close friends and would often double date.

August 2023

Amal gushed about her husband at the DVF Awards in Venice, saying, “I am here in Venice with my husband; he is a rising star. Venice is the place where almost nine years ago we were married. I just wanted to say, you, my love, like this city, take my breath away, and you make our lives magical. It is sometimes hard to believe you exist, so thank you for being the brightest light in my life.”

A source exclusively told In Touch that 10 years into their marriage, George and Amal are “leading separate lives.”

“They are both hardcore workaholics, so it’s like they’re in their own little bubble. They are in two very different worlds 90 percent of the day,” the insider said. “[Amal] is often traveling back and forth for work, which can become chaotic. Her career will never take a back seat to George’s career, and she made that clear to him very early on.”
