Jenelle Evans’ Daughters Ensley and Maryssa Removed From Home By CPS Amid Dog Killing Incident

Jenelle has been stripped of all of her children after a CPS case was opened against her and her husband earlier this month after David, 30, brutally murdered the family’s French bulldog on April 29.

On May 4, The Blast reported that someone called the Columbus County Department of Social Services in North Carolina, complaining that they felt Jenelle and David’s kids were in danger.

The caller was concerned about Jenelle and David’s children, who were in the home at the time of the horrific incident. They believed the kids “could develop PTSD, depression or other mental health illnesses from witnessing dangerous acts” like the murder of their family dog.

Jenelle and David are parents to five kids. Jenelle shared 9-year-old son Jace with her ex-boyfriend Andrew Lewis and 4-year-old Kaiser with ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith. David has an 11-year-old daughter named Maryssa and a son named Kayden from previous relationships. Together, Jenelle and David shared 2-year-old daughter, Enlsey.

But since David does not have custody of Kaden and Jenelle does not have custody of Jace, only Ensley, Maryssa and Kaiser live with the couple full time — which means those three children were in the home at the time of the shooting.

In a statement to Us Weekly, Jenelle said Kaiser and Ensley “were inside and just got done playing” when David killed their dog, while his 11-year-old daughter, Maryssa, “immediately went to her bedroom and didn’t come out all night until the next day.”

Shortly after news broke about Nugget’s death, David took to Instagram to explain why he felt justified in shooting the pup.

“I don’t give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face. … Whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog, and I don’t put up with that s–t at all,” he wrote on Instagram on May 1.

“I’m all about protecting my family,” he continued. “It is my life’s mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for, and my family means that much to me.”

“You can hate me all you want, but this isn’t the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively. The only person that can judge [whether] or not a animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME,” he added.

His caption was accompanied by a video clip of the deceased dog interacting with Ensley and fans weren’t convinced that the dog deserved to be killed.

Some pointed out that the dog seemed to clearly be in distress and the incident may have been avoided if there was adequate parental supervision.

“So I watched the video,” wrote one fan in a comment with nearly 2,000 likes. “He full-on let her put her face in the dog’s face, and he knew what was going to happen. So instead of stopping it before she got bit, he just let it play out.”

After the dog’s death, CPS ordered Kaiser, 4, to be removed from the home. They also suggest that Jenelle’s mom, Barbara Evans, keep 9-year-old Jace with her since she has custody of him.

Since Jenelle shares custody of Kaiser with her ex Nathan, authorities alerted Nathan’s mother, Doris, to step in on Friday, May 10.

“Nathan’s mother Doris got a call from CPS and they told her they had done the investigation and she should go get Kaiser out of daycare,” a source told Radar.

The following Monday, May 13, a source told Radar that a judge “signed off” on a request to remove “all of the children in the home.”

And authorities acted quickly because the remaining kids were removed by Wednesday, May 15. “Ensley has been placed,” a source close to Jenelle, 27, told Radar. “Maryssa has also been taken.”

Jenelle is scheduled to appear in court later this week to try to regain custody of her kids. “A court-appointed attorney is being given to each child,” the insider added.

“Jenelle is meeting with the kids at social services this afternoon,” the source said. “It is supervised visitation. She asked, and they are going to allow it.”

And she’s ready to fight CPS for her kids. “During this difficult time, I’m focused on getting Kaiser back and cooperating with my legal team on the next steps to getting my children back,” Jenelle said in an exclusive statement to In Touch.
