Thank you, next! Jennifer Lawrence is happily engaged so, she finds it a A- OK to joke about her exes. The 28-year-old and director, David O. Russell sat down for a chat about their three movie collabs and longtime friendship  at the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, April 27. The 60-year-old first locked eyes with The Hunger Games star at an American Film Institute luncheon. “She was talking to — is it OK that I say this,?” he asked.

“Yeah,” the Red Sparrow actress replied.

“Darren Aronofsky, at the car park,” the New York native went on, mentioning Jen’s ex-boyfriend.

“Did a lot of networking at that lunch, I guess,” Jen sarcastically joked.

The actress and the 50-year-old filmmaker first met when he was casting the horror film Mother!, which she later starred in. It was basically love at first sight, well for a little that is. “He flew in, pitched me, left. The whole thing was probably an hour and a half, and then I was like, he’s hot … I remember I was holding my dog and I shut the door and when the door shut [after Darren left] I went, ‘Pippy that’s called sexual tension.’ He played hard to get for like nine months, maybe longer, which just killed me,” Jen revealed on WTF with Marc Maron in 2018. The two former flames made their first public appearance together in September 2016 at a photo call for Mother! At the Venice Film festival. However, after nearly one year of dating, the two amicably called it quits in October 2017.

The Kentucky native is currently engaged to art gallery director Cooke Maroney. The love birds started dating in the spring of 2018 after they were introduced by J. Law’s friend Laura Simpson.

The Oscar winner previously dated Nicholas Hoult from 2011 to 2014, and Chris Martin in 2015. Despite the breakups, Jen has remained pretty good friends with her past lovers.

“I have a theory. I think it’s because I’m blunt,” The Silver Linings Playbook alum confessed to Maron, 55, back in February 2018. “I don’t think that you can have any sort of bad relationship with anybody if you’re just blunt. Everybody always knows how you feel at all times and there’s no lying, it’s just honesty. Everybody’s a good guy to each other. All my boyfriends have been wonderful … Every time I go through a breakup, it’s not like my heart isn’t broken. They just never did anything to like, devastate me. They were just good people.”
