Never Fear, ‘Counting On’ Fans! Jeremy Vuolo Confirms What Happened to Jake the Cat
He’s clearing the air! Jeremy Vuolo and his wife, Jinger Duggar, recently relocated from Laredo, Texas to Los Angeles and several fans have been wondering what happened to their rescue cat, Jake, since the couple hasn’t posted any new photos of him as of late. While taking to Instagram on Thursday, August 15, the Counting On star set the record straight.
“Jeremy did you guys bring your cat or leave it with friends?? I know that’s along way way to travel with a cat!! I had to move 6 with my family and oh boy what a trip that was,” one person wrote under his new photo of their daughter, Felicity. The reality star, 31, confirmed that Jake is now living with a new brood while responding to the commenter.
“We had to leave Jake with a family in Laredo 😩 I’m terribly allergic, but when we rescued him from the street I cared more about him finding a home than my allergies,” Jeremy wrote. “But allergies plus a cat aren’t a great combo. He’s happy, though!”
Jeremy and Jinger, 25, previously adopted the kitty back in 2018. “Welp, we’re now a family of four,” the TLC alum captioned the announcement photo at the time. Jeremy later opened up about his allergy to pet dander on an episode of the show, while explaining why he never had any animals with fur while growing up. “I had funky pets. I had bearded dragons, I had turtles, I had frogs, I had snakes. I love pets. And I love Jake. But I’m terribly allergic to him,” the reality star explained.
Jinger also said that Jeremy could develop a rash from holding the cat and noted how his nose would get stuffed up. “But he loves animals so much that he’s willing to make that sacrifice,” she shared.
In March 2019, the former professional soccer player revealed why their family decided to make the big move from Texas to California. “In recent days, God has made it overwhelmingly clear to us that he is leading us out of Laredo,” Jeremy told PEOPLE during an interview. “Through much prayer and counsel, the next step for our family is to relocate to Los Angeles to attend Grace Community Church as Jeremy pursues graduate studies at The Master’s Seminary.”
More recently, Jeremy confirmed they’re loving the new L.A. life! He said it’s “been a great transition.”
