Way to adapt! Jessa Duggar’s water broke 10 days before her due date, so she had to make some last minute changes to her birthing plan. The Counting On star’s midwife happened to leave town for the week on the very day she went into labor, so she and husband, Ben Seewald, resorted to plan B, calling different midwifes and delivering at home instead — on the family couch!

“Our birth plan through this whole pregnancy was that we would deliver at a birthing suite at the hospital with a midwife there,” the 26-year-old revealed in a new video released by TLC. “I was not expecting to go early,” Jessa added. “We thought we had two weeks left.”

Based on her previous experiences, Jessa thought she would try to “move around” and be “active” so she could help get the contractions going. The reality star also tried walking up and down the stairs to get her baby girl ready for delivery. On top of that, she had a castor oil smoothie.

Meanwhile, Jessa’s midwives placed a large white pad on the couch to protect it. After she gave birth to her daughter, Ivy Jane, on May 26, Jessa was taken to the hospital because of excessive bleeding. Luckily, the TLC alum was doing just fine with the help of some medication.

Once everything had calmed down, the couple was able to introduce their sons, Spurgeon, 3, and Henry, 2, to their happy and healthy little sister. Shortly after, more of the Duggars arrived to the hospital to meet the couple’s new addition.

Ivy has already changed the family dynamic so much, and Jessa said she’s loving every minute of it after having two boys. “Bows, pink, ruffles, lace,” she gushed. “Those are some of the things that are just really exciting about having a girl.” It’s only the beginning of this incredible new journey!
