Fans first learned that Kailyn Lowry was anti-vax when she talked about it on her podcast in January, but it turns out she’s not alone. The Teen Mom 2 star’s ex Chris Lopez shares her view on vaccinations. On Friday, September 13, the father revealed on Twitter that he doesn’t believe in the shots — and Lux, the son he and Kail share, won’t be getting them. Check out the gallery below to see just what the parent had to say on the subject.
The parents don’t agree on everything — and frequently find themselves feuding on social media — but it seems vaccinations are at least one issue where they’re on the same page when it comes to coparenting.

Controversial Conversation
Kail first addressed the topic on her “Coffee Convos” podcast when a fan requested, “Wondering if [you] can talk about the well-known controversy of vaccines. I’m a mother of three and I’ve always said that I would never be ‘that mom,’ but recently I’ve read so many horrifying stories about vaccines like the MMR [measles, mumps, and rubella], some absolutely devastating stories.”

Opening Up
The fan had vaccinated her two older children but was worried about vaccinating her youngest — and Kail could relate, sharing that some of her children had gotten the shots, but not all.

Tricky Choice
“I definitely think this is a controversial topic, and I don’t want to lose listeners because of my opinion — but, I did vaccinate Isaac, because to me, I didn’t know any better, and I gave — I let them vaccinate him with whatever they basically said that he needed,” Kail, 27, shared.

Learning More
“I feel like I was ignorant, and didn’t do research, and didn’t know any better,” she said. “With Lincoln, I knew a little bit more, and I started to research more, and that’s when I think the conversations of vaccines started to really be going on with me and my friends that became moms.”

Having Discussions
“There were documentaries on Netflix, and all kinds of, just, news that I would try to look into,” she continued. “Lincoln did not get all of his vaccines. I definitely picked and chose which ones I felt like were necessary, and he did not get them all at once.”

Making Decisions
Once Lux was born, Kail decided not to vaccinate him at all. “He hasn’t ever really been sick, and for me, I just think the more research that I do, and the more educated I’ve become, I just don’t vaccinate him,” she explained.

No Judgment
“So, that’s my opinion, and I don’t judge Lindsey if she chooses to vaccinate, or anyone else who chooses to vaccinate — that’s your prerogative. You’re a parent, you know what’s best for your child, and I’m not here to judge,” she finished.

Backlash
The mom was quickly inundated with hate for her choices, though, as fans lashed out on social media. “What’s really stupid about your anti-vax position is that you’re going off what [you] read online instead of what is in front your face [in] real life,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Isaac was [vaccinated], and he’s totally fine. Anti-vax has become more popular, and the measles are back.”

Hate
“I seriously do NOT understand this,” another said. “All anti-vax adults should be made to suffer with all of these potential diseases their child could get. After you’ve suffered, then tell me you want your child to go through the same. Guarantee you’d change your tune. Shameful.”

Standing Ground
In response to the criticism, Kail opened up to In Touch about her parenting decision. “I mean, I guess the only thing I can really say and continue to stand for is to parent how it’s best for your child and family,” she said.

Mother’s Choice
“People don’t love everything I do but I don’t shove my beliefs down anyone else’s throat. I know what’s best for my kids and other parents know what’s best for theirs.”

Dad’s Side
Now, Lux’s father is also weighing into the fray. On Friday, September 13, he addressed the issue with fans after they’d been tweeting at him for months asking him to take his son to the doctor.

Fans’ Pleas
“Chris, please do something about Lux,” one fan begged in February. “Vaccines work. That’s why we aren’t running around with polio. But we can be with anti-vaxers like Kail who put their kids at risk. Do the right thing.”

Clap Back
“STFU about a damn vaccine,” he told his followers on Twitter. “Y’all still complaining, and he still not getting them, so,” he said, adding a shrugging emoji as well as one that was laughing and crying.

Like Father, Like Son
The dad revealed on the social media site that he also hadn’t been vaccinated as a child. “I ain’t get my [shots either],” he claimed, adding jokingly, “I guess that’s why I’m bowlegged.”

Getting Along
Though Chris deleted the tweets, it’s interesting to see that he and Kail share the same perspective on the subject. We don’t know that these two will ever get back together, but sharing the same viewpoint can’t hurt.
