Andrea and Lamar are happily married today — but the Love After Lockup stars admit a jailhouse romance is not easy. Andrea met the convicted felon behind bars through her church that wrote letters to inmates.

For the next six years, Andrea, a devout Mormon, waited for Lamar, who was sentenced to nearly two decades for armed robbery, to get out. However, the transition from pen pals to lovers IRL was more difficult than she imagined.

“I recommend it not be done,” she told Bossip. "It’s like you’re in a relationship, but you’re not,” Andrea said. “I hid it from my family and friends and my Mormon community. It was worth it, but it was lonely. It wasn’t easy."

She also revealed that she struggled not being the center of attention once Lamar got out. However, Lamar is determined to make it work. "I really love this woman, and I got out and I’m here with her and support and take care of her," he added. "It’s not all bad just because of your situation and circumstances. Anything can happen in life."

On the WEtv series, Andrea's three kids feared for her safety when it came to her relationship with Lamar. "I’m not too hyped about Lamar. He was in prison for a long time so…it’s going to be awkward," her 15-year-old son Tennison said at the time. Time will only tell if Lamar wins his new stepkids over.

However, there is some good news for Love After Lockup fans. The series has been renewed for a second season and is now casting for new storylines, which will premiere in 2019. "I don’t think it’s any different from any of our shows," WE tv president Mark Juris told Reality Blurred. "As with any relationships, we’re capturing what’s really happening and capturing real life. There are many explosive moments in many shows, so we’re always very aware of that, so we go into every show with security and safety in mind, because you never really do know what or when anything is going to happen when you’re doing reality TV." We can't wait.
