Liam Neeson Mourns The Heartbreaking Loss Of His Nephew Who Died 5 Years After A Tragic Fall
This is so tragic. Liam Neeson is mourning the loss of his nephew Ronan Sexton after he died over the weekend, The Belfast Telegraph reported on Jan. 16. Ronan was hospitalized after suffering severe head injuries in a fall in 2014. He was out with friends in East Sussex early in the morning and fell 20 feet from on top of a phone booth near Brighton Pier. The 31-year-old was critically injured in the accident and never fully recovered from it. The 35-year-old was the youngest son of Neeson’s sister Bernadette, who had six children.
Ronan’s family was apparently present at his time of death, which is hopefully some small comfort for Liam, 66, and his kin. Shortly after the incident five years ago, Liam’s nephew’s family released a statement saying that he was “receiving wonderful treatment from the dedicated staff” at the hospital. They also thanked fans for their outpouring of “love, support, prayers and good wishes for Ronan.”
Sadly, this isn’t the first time the actor lost a loved one due to a tragic accident. In March 2009, the Schindler’s List performer lost his wife, Natasha Richardson, after she sustained a head injury while skiing in Quebec. She seemed OK at first, but started to complain of a headache and was taken to the hospital where she was admitted in critical condition. Natasha ultimately passed away at the age of 45.
Liam is currently working on several projects including Honest Thief, Marlowe, and Men in Black: International. The Belfast Telegraph reported that Parish priest Fr. Luke McWilliams said the family asked for privacy as they mourn, and hopefully, the Chronicles of Narnia cast member is able to get away from his busy schedule as an acclaimed actor to be with them during what must be a very difficult time. Our hearts are with you, Liam.
