Is it too late now? Lori Loughlin apparently regrets not taking a plea deal when it comes to her alleged crimes in the college admissions scandal, and partly blames her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, for not doing so, sources told Us Weekly. He recommended they reject the plea deal prosecutors offered back in April, and now, “Lori regrets not doing what Felicity [Huffman] did,” the insider claimed. A different source told the outlet, “Lori was inclined to take the deal, but Mossimo said it would ruin both of their careers.”

To be fair, it seems like their reputations would have taken a hit either way. Crown Media Family Network, which worked with Loughlin as a series regular on When Calls the Heart, severed ties with the actress in March. Huffman, who did take a deal, suffered a loss of credibility to her parenting blog, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the insider, Giannulli, 56, feels he and his wife, 55, have been targeted by the federal government because of their wealth unfairly. Another source says he’s convinced himself that “they’ve done nothing wrong.”

The couple was indicted, along with countless other parents, on March 12 on charges related to a nationwide college admissions cheating scam. Loughlin and Giannulli were arrested the same month after they allegedly “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.”

A source previously told Us Weekly in August that the Fuller House actress “asked her lawyer to negotiate a plea deal that would involve no jail time but home confinement with monitoring via ankle monitor.” However, the insider noted that at this point, “Any deal would involve significant jail time.”

Huffman, meanwhile, officially entered a guilty plea for her role in the scandal on May 13. The Desperate Housewives alum, 56, released a statement where she accepted “full responsibility” for her actions at the time.

“I am pleading guilty to the charge brought against me by the United States Attorney’s Office,” it read in part. “I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions.” Would Lori be willing to do the same thing?
