Being a married man on the road isn’t easy, but Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline Boyer, know how to make it work for them. The 43-year-old country star says maintaining their own identities allows the couple to be unfazed by the distance in an exclusive interview with In Touch.

“One of the most important things that I’m really proud of her is that she creates her own life too,” the Georgia native explains while promoting his new beer, Two Lane American Golden Lager. “But when it comes to her own endeavors and her own life, she really prides herself on having that going for her rather than everything [being] about trying to chase me around doing this.”

Although spending time apart isn’t easy for the married couple of 13 years, they do what they can to make it work and cherish the time they have together. “We go do our thing, and when we meet back, we really try and make it quality time with the family,” the American Idol judge adds.

While the duo has kept their individuality intact, Luke admits his stardom still “dictates” a lot of his wife’s schedule, such as attending red carpet events as his plus one or cheering him on in the crowd. Aside from Luke’s packed calendar, they do what they can to handle the “little challenges.”

Despite sounding “cliché,” Luke says it’s all about communication when it comes to overcoming the hurdles in their relationship. “There are challenges that come up that you don’t foresee. I’ve learned through the years her hot button topics.”

He also notes that he tries to stay on top of their to-do lists to avoid any scheduling conflicts.”When I’m trying to navigate the music business, I’ve learned to try and minimize stuff [so she and I won’t] get crossed up and vise versa.”

If Caroline isn’t walking a red carpet with her man, the blonde beauty is busy at home with their two sons, Thomas, 11, and Tatum, 9. She also runs the family’s barn dedicated to Caroline’s late niece, Brett. One thing is for sure, Caroline is no groupie. She is a star in her own right.
