Fans of the Busby family have watched the record-breaking quintuplets grow up right before their eyes on the TLC reality show OutDaughtered.

Since 2016, Adam and Danielle Busby — who have been married since 2006 — documented their lives with eldest daughter Blayke Louise and her five younger sisters, Ava Lane, Olivia Marie, Hazel Grace, Riley Paige and Parker Kate, known for being the first all-girl quintuplets in the United States.

In Touch takes a look at the family through the years.

Getting Pregnant

After struggling with infertility, Adam and Danielle became pregnant both times by intrauterine insemination. Danielle welcomed the quints via Caesarean section 28 weeks into the pregnancy on April 8, 2015, and their arrival made headlines.

Giving Birth

According to CBS News‘ Dr. Alexander Reiter, who delivered all five babies alongside a team of medical personnel, Danielle was a “trooper” through the process. “Her positive attitude definitely shined through the pregnancy and the delivery,” he added. In a statement of her own, Danielle said, “We are so thankful and blessed. I honestly give all the credit to my God. I am so thankful for this wonderful hospital and team of people here, they truly all are amazing.”

One Year Old

One year after they were born, Adam and Danielle sat down with Inside Edition to share how life has been raising six young girls. When asked about the obstacles they’ve faced along the way, Adam explained, “I mean, honestly, I think the biggest challenge is just going anywhere. Just to get out of the house, it takes a lot.” However, Danielle added, “It’s been fun being able to capture our memories, our life, how much they’re changing — they change so quickly.” At the time, the family was preparing for the premiere of the second season of OutDaughtered. Danielle said, “Our story is extraordinary, and it’s something we never ever thought would ever happen to just normal people like us. We wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Terrible Twos

A year later, the quints had entered their “terrible twos,” which Danielle said at the time were in “full force.” She explained, “I thought we would have had a little bit more time before we hit the terrible twos because they’re preemies. I mean, they were born like three months early, but it started three to four months before they even turned 2!” It was a new experience for the Busbys since their eldest daughter Blayke “was such a great kid,” Danielle joked. “When you’ve got five of them in their twos, and they’re brains are all chaotic, and everything’s theirs, it’s a cat party in here all the time.” Adam chimed in, “Yeah, having five babies that are in this close-up quarters all the time, it’s the nature of the beast. I mean they are little toddlers.”

Talkative Threes

When the quints were 3 years old, OutDaughtered fans got to see just how chatty the five little girls became. In a clip from the show, Adam can be seen driving the girls around as they discussed what kind of smoothies they’d like to make. “I mean, it’s just so cool to be able to — and you’re starting to see it at a small level now, but it’s only going to get better… You can sit back and just watch them, and they’ll make up stories, and they role play and laugh.” In response to the girls’ car ride, one fan commented, “Oh my gosh, they are a riot! They should have their own show….oh yeah, they already do.”

Fun at Four!

As the quints approached their 4th birthday, Adam and Danielle can be seen taking all of their girls mini golfing. “It is birthday season in the Busby house,” Adam can be seen saying in a clip from the show. “Later this week, we’ve got Blayke turning 8 and the quints turning 4.” The girls had “become a lot more competitive over the last few months,” Adam explained, to which Danielle replied, “So we’ve been trying to look for more sporty activities to channel that energy.” As the whole family took part in the group activity, Danielle said, “It’s been very fast paced this last year.” Adam then joked, “We have a literal tornado in our house.”

Proud Dad

Throughout the years, Adam and Danielle have been very open about how they raise their daughters. “I have the awesome experience of doing life side-by-side with arguably the strongest person on the planet,” Adam said, according to TLC. “We are doing our best to raise strong, confident, and brave girls that will never be scared or intimidated to stand toe to toe with any man for opportunities in life. I have an awesome perspective with raising these six very different little women and they blow me away every day at what they are capable of. One day we will look back and shake our heads at the notion of gender barriers.”

Family Struggles

Danielle has also been vocal about the health challenges she’s faced after giving birth to quintuplets, including the lingering effects on her heart and nervous system. The mom of six has experienced migraines, neck pain, heart palpitations and more, and doctors have treated her for fibromyalgia and autoimmune disease. In a 2024 interview with Parade, Danielle explained, “I have been pretty solid and pretty good probably the last like eight or so months. I have been on a routine of, you know, seeing doctors, kind of discovering, like, all the struggles with like my nervous system.” She added, “Now that the kids are getting more independent, my body itself has actually slowed down a lot. So I’ve had a lot of inflammation, a lot of swelling, a lot of weight gain, to losing some weight to weight gain. It’s just like this up-and-down curve.”

Starting Second Grade

With the quints in elementary school, Adam said in a 2023 TLC clip that “so much has happened over the last two years. I don’t even know where to begin.” Danielle said, “The quints are in elementary school, and they’re in second grade, so we are in go-mode Mondays through Fridays.” Their morning routine had even “changed quite a bit,” Adam said, adding that the kids are more “self-sufficient.” He explained, “They go straight into the kitchen, make breakfast and get their morning started.”

Golden Birthday

On April 8, 2023, Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley and Parker celebrated their golden birthday (when their age matches that day of the month). “Happy Golden 8th Birthday my beautiful little quintuplets!” Danielle captioned an Instagram photo of the girls wearing matching glittery pink skirts and white tank tops that each read “Eight” in gold letters. “Mommy is so PROUD of each one of you! I love seeing who each of you are becoming and how you each have your ‘ownness.’ I hope you all felt loved beyond measures today! Y’all are a true blessing and a reminder daily of how big are God is!! #happybirthday my baby girls! Mommy loves y’all ‘mostest BIG.'” In the post, she also thanked her family, friends and classmates who celebrated the girls’ big day. “It means the world to us having so many loving people in our lives,” she wrote.

A Birthday to Remember

The quints’ 9th birthday fell on the same day as the 2024 total solar eclipse across North America, which passed over Mexico, the United States and Canada. “What and epic 9th Birthday to remember!” Danielle wrote on Instagram. “Quints turned 9 on Monday, same day the solar eclipse happened. It really was an amazing experience to be out in the country with an open sky witnessing it go from daylight to, darkness, to day light all in 4 minutes! Core memory made this day! Happiest of birthdays to my Ava Lane, Olivia Marie, Hazel Grace, Riley Paige and Parker Kate. You all are a little miracle and I couldn’t imagine life without each of you. I love you, and you, and you, and you and you!! Can’t wait to celebrate yall at your party!”
