Pete Davidson Praised Kanye West Amid Feud With Ariana Grande About Mental Health
He chose sides. Just moments before Pete Davidson deleted his Instagram account after sharing a cryptic, seemingly suicidal message, he actually praised hip-hop star Kanye West for standing up to Pete’s ex-fiancée Ariana Grande on Twitter. Kanye and Ariana were involved in a little bit of a back-and-forth spat on Twitter on Saturday, Dec. 15, and Pete seemed to be on Kanye’s side in the matter.
“Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against mental health. I can’t explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this,” the 25-year-old SNL star wrote in a now-deleted text post on Instagram. “We need people like Kanye. No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I’m seriously disgusted.”
Even though Pete didn’t directly name his ex-fiancée in the post, it seemed like he was responding to Kanye’s Twitter exchange with Ariana. Earlier this week, Ariana tried to remind direct fans’ attention on the fact that she and Miley were releasing new songs instead of on Kanye’s Twitter feud with Drake.
Shortly after Ariana’s tweet, Kanye shared his reaction. “I know Ariana said this to be cool and didn’t mean no harm but I don’t like even slightest level of slight commentary from someone I know loves and respects me,” the 41-year-old tweeted. “All of this foolishness weighed on my mental health so [Ariana Grande] you know I got love for you but until you’re ready to really make sure everyone’s ok don’t use me or this moment to promote a song.”

Ariana responded to Kanye and she seemed to be apologetic for coming off as insensitive. “With all due respect, I don’t need to use anyone to promote anything. Period. I was making a comment [about] what men were doing at the time vs. women,” Ari, 25, wrote. “It was a joke which I understand now was probably insensitive. I apologize if I was in any way triggering and hope u [sic] feel well today.”
