Gone But Not Forgotten: ‘Teen Mom’ Stars That Have Died After Appearing on the Show

Derek Underwood died in December 2008, just months before Sophia was born in February 2009. He was barely mentioned in Farrah’s episode of 16 and Pregnant, though she has made sure to share details with Sophia about her father as she’s gotten older.

Valerie Fairman

16 and Pregnant alum Valerie Fairman died of a drug overdose in 2016 at the age of 23.

More than one year after Valerie’s tragic passing, her family shared an update of how her daughter, Nevaeh Lynn, was coping.
“Nevaeh is very well,” Valerie’s mother, Janice Fairman, told Radar in June 2018. “I don’t think it’s been hard for her. I don’t know if it will be in the coming years. She’s doing well in school. I took her to a grief counselor, which she didn’t need.”

In addition to talking about Valerie often, Janice explained that the family tries to keep the former reality star’s memory alive in other sentimental ways. “[Nevaeh] has a necklace with some of her ashes,” she shared. “Ashes are in her playroom too. She also has flowers from the service.”

Jordan Cashmyer

Another 16 and Pregnant alum that passed away was Jordan Cashmyer, who died in January 2022 at the age of 26 following a battle with addiction.
“This is an incredibly sad day,” Jordan’s rep, Howard ” Howie ” Wood, told In Touch in a statement hours after the news of her death broke. “The last time I spoke with Jordan, she sounded happy and healthy. I wish people had the opportunity to know her away from her struggles as she was a very sweet and kind hearted person. I’m grateful I had the chance to know and work with her all these years. Life was not always good to her and I hope now she is in a better place. RIP sweet girl.”
Jordan’s father, Dennis Cashmyer, Jr., later took to Facebook to reveal she passed away. “Last night I received a call no parent ever wants,” read his statement, in which he tagged Cashmyer’s mother, Jessica Cashmyer. “My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER.”
“Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy,” his message continued. ” Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, grand daughter Lyla and family members.”

Lane Hernandez

Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant star Malorie’s ex-boyfriend, Adrian “Lane” Fernandez, died just three weeks after welcoming his son with his wife, Kylee Rose, in June 2022.
Rachel confirmed Lane’s death via her Instagram Story on June 13. “I can’t even begin to express the pain I feel right now,” the reality star wrote alongside a photo of Lane swimming with his daughter Emerson, whom he shared with Malorie. “Gone too soon … Rest easy Lane.”
Kylee also paid tribute to Lane in a heartbreaking Facebook post. “I’m so lost without you babe … I love you to the moon and back and I know you’re watching out for us. I will forever miss you,” she wrote. “It’s always been you Nolyn, Emerson, and I love you so much and you were an amazing father, dog dad, and husband. You’ll forever be my rock, and my best friend. I miss you more than anything baby.”

Taylor Lewis

Taylor appeared as Jenelle Evans’ friend during season 5 of Teen Mom 2 as she helped the former reality star through her divorce and abortion. Their friendship didn’t last, and Taylor went on to lead a relatively quiet life in North Carolina. 

Taylor sadly passed away at the age of 29 on January 5, 2022, In Touch exclusively confirmed the following day. Details on her death are still unclear.

Sean Garinger

Sean made his reality TV debut when he appeared on season 6 of 16 and Pregnant alongside ex Selena Gutierrez. Their 2021 episode followed Selena and Sean as they prepared to welcome their daughter, Dareli, in October 2020. They continued to expand their family when she gave birth to their second child, daughter Esmi, in June 2022 before the pair called it quits.

The father of two died in February 2024 at the age of 20 after he was involved in an ATV accident. His mother, Mary Hobbs, told The U.S. Sun that the ATV flipped and “crushed” his skull as he tried to move it from one parking spot to another. “I ran to neighbors trying to get someone to help me get the ATV off of him. No one answered. I ran back to him,” she recalled. “By that time, I realized he wasn’t alive anymore.”

Autumn Crittendon

Autumn Crittendon, who appeared on season 5 of 16 and Pregnant, died at the age of 27 in July 2024, her older sister, Misty Crittendon, confirmed in a Facebook post on July 21, 2024.

“To my dearest baby sister, my twin, my rock, my babies mother, my go to, my world, the only one who got me and most of my childhood trauma, who endured it all with me, my Arnold,” Misty wrote in the tribute post, according to Starcasm. “I love you more than words can even come close. Rest Easy my beautiful angel, but seriously, don’t rest, come back. Wake me up.”

Autumn appeared on 16 and Pregnant alongside Dustin Franklin as they expected their son, Drake. She went on to have two more children – a daughter and son – after she gave birth to baby No. 1.
