‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Tyler Baltierra Reveals Father Butch Relapsed: We’re Back to ‘Square One’

A new season of Teen Mom OG premiered on June 10, and sadly, not all of the cast members are thriving.

Tyler and his wife, Cate, addressed Butch’s struggles with sobriety while chatting with Kailyn and her cohost, Lindsie Chrisley, on a recent episode of their podcast.

Sobriety Struggles

“He’s relapsed. He’s in the middle of a relapse right now. That’s the reality of that situation right now,” the 27-year-old reality star said about his father.

Not Giving Up

Tyler revealed they are ready to face it head-on, nonetheless. “Now we go back to square one, do this relapse thing and kind of ride this train out and see what happens,” he added.

TV Time

The reality star also mentioned that Butch’s battle with addiction will be featured on future episodes. “You’ll see that in the new season,” the MTV alum shared.

Up Ahead

“He’s filming, he filmed a couple of scenes,” Tyler said. “So, this season you’ll see me go down there a couple of times.”

One Step at a Time

Tyler noted how Butch lives in Austin, adding how “he got out of rehab he did his sober living, all that stuff.”

Making Strides

It’s a tough reality to face for all involved, considering the fact that Butch was celebrating one year of sobriety not long ago — back in November 2018.

Proud Accomplishment

Butch was attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings and appeared to be on a good trajectory. He even shared his excitement about his milestone on social media.

“I had 365 days clean yesterday,” Butch wrote at the time. “I didn’t post anything because I was pretty busy, but I just want to tell you it’s not all that easy, and it ain’t all that hard.”

Keeping It Real

Butch confessed that it was a constant struggle, but he was doing his best to stay strong. “Do I have obsessions? Yes, I do,” Tyler’s dad admitted.

Dealing With Vices

“Yes, I think about smoking marijuana, I think about drinking every now and then. I’m not a big drinker, but I been thinking about it,” Butch admitted.

Staying Positive

“But it’s not all that easy, but I know it’s easy when you work a program … That’s all I wanted to say,” he concluded.

Focused on Recovery

In the past, Tyler has shown father tough love as he deals with his vices and it looks like he’ll be doing the same going forward.

Bigger Brood

The new season of TMOG will also give an update on Tyler and Catelynn, as they raise their daughter Nova, and their new bundle of joy, Vaeda.
