Teen Mom's Mackenzie McKee Shared Beautiful Tributes to Mom Angie

In the hours before her mom passed, Mackenzie McKee wrote a beautiful tribute to Angie Douthit. But it’s not the only one she’s shared. On Tuesday, December 10, in the wake of her mom’s tragic death, she shared another awe-inspiring message. Over the years, the Teen Mom OG star has had a lot of words of admiration and support for her parent. Heartbroken

“Momma @angiedouthit has crossed the finish line,” Mackenzie, 25, wrote on December 10. “She did not lose the battle, she [won]. She is healed and running in heaven in eternity. [I don’t now] anyone who left earth with such an impact.”

Speaking directly to her mom, she continued, “Your entire life, you never waisted a chance to let the world know God’s love. When we would try to brag on what an amazing person you are, you would respond with, ‘It’s not me, it’s God.'”

To everyone else, she added, “Could you imagine this world if we all lived like Angie Douthit? She always said, ‘It’s easy. We were put on earth to share God’s love.’ And boy did she. 700 daily posts for you guys to read daily, hundreds of speaking engagements even when she could barely walk or speak. She simply trusted that God would speak through her.”

For her mother, she wrote, “Momma, I did not deserve you. But you loved me so unconditionally. You were the glue that held me together. The one who always believed in me. [I don’t know] what I will do without you, but I hope this goes by fast so I can hurry and come be with you. You passed a torch down to us, and I will not fail you. I will live for Christ and love like him like you always taught me. I will make you proud, momma.”

So Much Love

“Exodus 17:12 ‘When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up — one on one side, and one on the other — so that his hands remained steady until sunset.’ Mom has been a Christ-like example to many people ever since she got saved. She doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk,” she wrote on December 9.

“She is obedient to her Savior. She led Dad to the Lord a long time ago. Since then, Mom has been a faithful, Christ-like example to Dad. When Mom got sick, she was very weak and it was hard for her to raise her hands. So anytime she would worship and have the desire to raise her hands, she would grab Dad’s hand and he would help her lift her arm up to worship.

“Dad has watched Mom these last two years share the Gospel with the world. He has watched her love others, forgive others and show others true kindness. This has changed Dad tremendously, and he has grown in his relationship with Christ. All of us kids have seen a huge difference in Dad over the last two years. When Mom first got sick, Dad shut down and it was hard for him to even talk. Yesterday, when we worshipped together, Mom was too weak to move. Dad grabbed her hand and lifted it in the air so she could worship. Instead of how Dad acted two years ago, he has been able to lead us toward Christ.”

Amazing Woman

Sometimes, she let her mom’s own inspiring words speak for themselves. “In case you want a Sunday morning motivation,” she wrote as she reposted one of Angie’s Instagrams. “Yesterday was a very special day for me and my family,” the grandma wrote in November. “Not only did it mark six months that the [doctor] said I had left to live, it was also our annual 5k for diabetes. I used to do really well in this race. In 2017, I got second in my age division. Last year, I [walked] and did well. This year was a different story.

“So, here’s how the race went. Whitney, of course, took off like a bat out of a cave and won! First woman. Mic and I walked super fast. We made it almost two miles, and [then] I got a sick stomach. We tried to find a bathroom … no luck. Then it happened. I lost it in my pants. It was horrible. I had to sit down on the side of the road while Mic called Brad to come get me. He took me home (it’s only a mile away) and dropped me off so he could watch the girls. I had a big mess to clean up. But as I did, something told me to ‘finish the race that is set before me.’

“With clean clothes and [a] clean body, I took Brad’s truck and told Tim to call them. I was going back to where I had to stop, and I was finishing the race. As I walked and jogged, I kept saying to myself, ‘I must finish the race that is set before me.’ Whit and Brad showed up. She walked with me. As we approached the last section before the finish line, the entire group of racers walked out to meet us and to follow us the rest of the way cheering me on. Mic grabbed my hand while Whit grabbed the other. I shouted, ‘I must finish the race set before me!’

“We finished together. It was a beautiful moment. Then, I sat down on the side of the road, leaned over and threw up on the grass! It was a race to remember! There are so many amazing people in my town. I’m very thankful for them. I was reminded of some things through this crazy day. I remembered to never give [up] and quit even when everything turns to crap. (Literally.) I was also reminded to let others cheer you on. I also thought about how God has a great plan for every single day we live. I pray you have a wonderful Sunday. Enjoy being alive. I’m praying for 6 more months!!!”
