Welcome to Plathville’s Kim Plath Dons Captain’s Hat and Gives a Tour of Her Post-Divorce Houseboat

Main Cabin

“This is it!” Kim laughed as she extended her hands across the small cabin area. “There’s not much else to see.”

A small bed covered in pillows and blankets took up most of the space on one side of the room, while another smaller bed rested against the opposite wall.

“This is where Mercy usually sleeps,” Kim joked as she pointed to the smaller of the two, “because she fits there better than anybody else.”

Galley

The kitchen, or galley to boaters, as Kim pointed out, can only be called such in the strictest of definitions. Two toaster ovens stacked atop each other, a two-burner stove, a sink and a spice rack completed the area.

The Head

“This is the bathroom, also known as the head,” Kim explained, continuing to demonstrate her mastery of nautical terms.

“I could say something crude here but I think I’ll pass,” she joked.

She opened a small door to reveal a tiny room with a toilet, shower and all the needed accessories.

Captain Kim

Proud of her new status as a ship’s captain, Kim showed viewers a custom-made captain’s hat embroidered with “Captain Kim” in gold along the side.

“I would love to get my captain’s license and give boat tours,” she said.

A brand new career ahead of her, perhaps?

V-Berth

Toward the far end of the main cabin, Kim gave a look into the V-berth, a V-shaped bedroom where Amber and Cassia sleep.

A hatch above the bed lets in plenty of natural light and gives the room nice air flow.

“I like laying here at night and letting the moonlight in or looking at the stars,” Kim told viewers. “Amber, Cassia and Mercy all love coming and going from this hatch.”

Favorite Place on the Boat

Kim concluded the tour with her “favorite place on the boat to be” – an outdoor lounge area on the back of the boat. Sporting a large L-shaped couch and even a refrigerator, the outdoor deck looked perfect for “feeling the breeze,” “listening to the boats motor around” or “watching the sunset,” as Kim put it.

“It’s just – it’s beautiful,” the mother of eight said. “It feels like we’re living our best life out here.”

“Well, looks like it’s margarita time,” Kim concluded with a smile as she waved the camera off.
